FCI and state agencies procure 60.63 LMT of paddy in Punjab during Kharif Marketing System 2024-2025 till October 28
As of October 28, 2024, Punjab has procured 60.63 LMT of paddy at the MSP of ₹2,320 per quintal under the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25, with payments of ₹12,200 crore made directly to farmers. This season, 2,927 mandis, including 1,000 temporary yards, were designated to support the procurement. The government targets 185 LMT by November’s end, with paddy collection and processing being facilitated by 4,145 millers.
As of October 28, 2024, a total of 65.75 LMT of paddy has been received in the mandis, with state agencies and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) procuring 60.63 LMT. As of this date, Rs 12,200 crore has been disbursed directly to farmers’ bank accounts in Punjab.
The procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25 began on October 1, 2024, with 2,927 designated mandis, including 1,000 temporary yards, opened across Punjab to facilitate the smooth procurement of paddy. The central government has set an estimated target of 185 LMT for this KMS.
Paddy is being purchased at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,320 per quintal for Grade ‘A’ paddy, and the total expenditure on paddy purchases to date amounts to Rs 14,066 crore, benefiting 351,906 farmers.
Additionally, 4,145 millers have applied for paddy shelling and are currently collecting paddy from the mandis. Therefore, the state is on track to meet the 185 LMT target by the end of November.
