Russia is increasing exports at the expense of stolen grain from Ukraine
Russia has exported around 15 million tons of grain from Ukraine’s occupied territories since the full-scale invasion, according to Ukraine’s Deputy Economy Minister. Ukrainian wheat is reportedly being mixed with Russian grain at Black Sea ports, making its origin untraceable. Occupied areas now contribute to Russia’s grain harvest.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has already exported about 15 million tons of grain from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
This was reported by Reuters, citing the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky.
The Ukrainian side reports that intelligence services have discovered that Ukrainian wheat is being mixed with Russian wheat in Black Sea ports and sent for export.
At the same time, traders report that it is impossible to trace the origin of the wheat after it is mixed.
Last year, the temporarily occupied territories — Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions — provided about 3% of the Russian grain harvest.
This year, the occupiers plan to harvest 1 million tons of grain in Luhansk region alone, which is preliminarily estimated at $230 million.
