Pakistan : TCP issues fresh tender to sell 36,000 tons of imported sugar

Pakistan’s TCP has invited sealed bids by December 3 to sell 36,000 tons of imported sugar, with a minimum bid of 5,000 tons. The tender follows earlier sales as part of supply-stabilisation efforts. Pakistan imported 231,390 tons from July–October under a 500,000-ton approval.

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued a new tender for the sale of 36,000 tons of imported sugar, inviting sealed bids from interested buyers by December 3.

According to the tender documents, all bids will be opened the same day, and offers for quantities below 5,000 tons will not be considered.

The imported sugar currently offered for sale is stored in TCP’s Papyri warehouses in Karachi.

This latest tender follows an earlier one issued for the sale of 100,000 tons of imported sugar, reflecting the government’s ongoing strategy to ensure adequate supply in the country.

Official records show that the federal government had approved the import of 500,000 tons of sugar in July this year to meet domestic demand. From July to October 2025, a total of 231,390 tons were imported, with 200,000 tons—valued at Rs. 31,624 million—brought in during the month of October alone. The cumulative value of sugar imports over the past four months has reached Rs. 36,976 million.

These imports were carried out through TCP at the official level, and the federal government had also granted a tax exemption on sugar imports to reduce costs and facilitate timely supply.
