Ukraine’s harvest nears completion: Total grain output exceeds 56 mln tons
Ukraine has harvested 56.58 million tonnes of cereals and pulses from 10.89 million hectares, covering 94% of sown area. Corn, sunflower, and soybeans are nearing completion, with strong yields. Southern and western regions lead progress, while Kherson, Kharkiv, and Sumy lag behind due to slower harvesting conditions.
As of December 19, Ukraine has harvested 56.58 million tonnes of cereals and pulses from 10.89 million hectares, representing 94% of the total sown area, according to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
Harvesting continues across major crops: corn has been collected from 3.78 million hectares (86%), yielding 26.45 million tonnes at an average of 7.0 t/ha; sunflower seeds from 4.83 million hectares (93%), producing 9.15 million tonnes at 1.89 t/ha; soybeans from 2.02 million hectares (98%), totaling 4.79 million tonnes at 2.37 t/ha; and other cereals and pulses from 333.1 thousand hectares (85%), amounting to 933.8 thousand tonnes.
Southern and western regions are leading in harvest progress. Grain and pulse harvesting is fully completed in Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Near completion is reported in Odesa (99.8%), Kirovohrad (98.6%), Vinnytsia (97.8%), and Rivne (97.2%) regions.
The slowest harvesting rates are recorded in Kherson (70.8%), Kharkiv (80.2%), and Sumy (82.5%) regions.
