Haryana : Yamunanagar gears up for wheat procurement season

Authorities in Haryana are preparing for wheat procurement starting April 1, with MSP set at ₹2,585 per quintal. Officials have been directed to ensure proper facilities like water, sanitation, storage, labour, and security in grain markets to provide smooth procurement and timely payments to farmers.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti held a meeting with officers of departments concerned here on Wednesday and directed them to make proper arrangements related to the procurement of wheat and other rabi crops.

She directed the officials to ensure proper water supply, sanitation, repair of roads, electricity and installation of CCTV cameras in the grain markets for the convenience of farmers. She said that the state government shall begin wheat procurement in the state from April 1.

“The state government has fixed the MSP for wheat at Rs 2,585 this year, compared to Rs 2,425 in 2025,” said DC Preeti.

“The arrangements of drinking water, sanitation, road repair, electricity and some other related works will be made by the secretaries of the market committees in the grain markets of the district,” said the DC.

She said that the concerned procurement agencies would make arrangements of adequate sacks to store wheat, workers to load the purchased wheat and adequate warehouses to store the wheat. The DC said that procurement agencies would also make arrangements for daily payment for the purchased wheat.

She instructed the officials to listen to the problems of the farmers during their inspections in the grain markets and resolve them promptly. She also instructed the officials to inspect the grain markets regularly.

On this occasion, Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, Radaur SDM Narender Kumar, Vyaspur SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, Chhachhrauli SDM Rohit Kumar, City Magistrate Piyush Gupta, DPRO Dr Manoj Kumar, DFSC Nitish Singla and others were present.
