USDA increases forecast for fiscal year 2026 ethanol exports values

United States is expected to see higher ethanol export earnings in fiscal year 2026 after the USDA raised its forecast to $5.1 billion, nearly 9% above its February estimate and 11% higher year-on-year. Ethanol export values during October–March FY2026 already rose more than 20% compared with the same period last year.

The USDA increased its forecast for fiscal year 2026 ethanol exports values in its latest quarterly Outlook for U.S. Agriculture Trade report, released May 28. The agency currently predicts 2026 ethanol export values will be up 11% when compared to the previous year.

The USDA currently predicts the value of U.S. ethanol exports will reach $5.1 billion in fiscal year 2026, up nearly 9% when compared to the forecast of $4.7 billion made in February. The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $4.595 billion in fiscal year 2025. 

The U.S. federal government’s fiscal year starts on Oct. 1 and concludes on Sept. 30. For the October-March portion of fiscal year 2026, the USDA estimates that the value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $2.77 billion, up more than 20% when compared to the $2.299 billion in U.S. ethanol exports reported for the same period of fiscal year 2025.
