Ukraine has fully utilized the annual quota for wheat exports to the EU
Ukraine has fully utilized its annual EU wheat export quota and exhausted quarterly quotas for poultry, eggs, and egg products under the DCFTA framework. Strong demand for Ukrainian agri-food products has also driven significant use of other quotas, while some categories still retain export capacity for the remainder of the year.
Ukraine actively uses tariff quotas within the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU — DCFTA. The highest level of utilization is observed for certain agri-food products, including poultry, eggs, wheat, dairy products, juices, honey, sugar corn, and ethyl alcohol. This was reported by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association, as reported by agronews.ua.
As of June 1, Ukraine has fully utilized the annual quota for wheat exports to EU countries. Also, by that date, quarterly volumes under quotas for fresh poultry meat, poultry eggs, and egg products were fully utilized.
At the same time, quotas for certain items are being gradually utilized. For example, frozen poultry meat has utilized 9.5% of the annual volume available. For flour from grain crops, with a quota available within the annual volume, the utilization rate is 24.8%.
For the dairy group, where the volume is distributed over a 6-month period, 15.8% of the available semi-annual volume under the quota for milk and condensed milk has been utilized, 34.9% for the quota for skimmed milk and cream in powder, and 13.1% for the quota for butter and other fats of animal origin.
“As of June 1, the data indicate that EU tariff quotas remain an important tool for Ukrainian agri-food products’ access to the EU market. Many quotas have already been exhausted or their balances until the end of the year are small, indicating high demand for Ukrainian products in the EU. At the same time, some quotas still have a significant balance, creating potential for further exports,” emphasized the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association.
