U.S. fuel ethanol output, exports decline in week ended September 18
U.S. fuel ethanol production fell 6.5% week-on-week to 1.028 million barrels per day through September 18, while inventories declined to 24.683 million barrels. Exports dropped to 122,000 barrels per day, below the previous week and last year, while no imports were recorded.
U.S. fuel ethanol production declined by more than 6% in the week ended September 18, while ethanol inventories and exports also fell, Ethanol Producer Magazine reported, citing data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on September 23.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.028 million barrels per day during the week, down 71,000 barrels per day from 1.099 million barrels per day in the previous week. However, production was 4,000 barrels per day higher than in the corresponding week a year earlier.
Ethanol inventories fell 537,000 barrels to 24.683 million barrels at the end of the week, from the previous week’s 25.22 million barrels. Despite the weekly drop, stocks remained 1.215 million barrels above the level recorded during the same week last year.
Exports also weakened sharply. U.S. fuel ethanol exports averaged 122,000 barrels per day, down 39,000 barrels per day from 161,000 barrels per day in the previous week. Exports were also 10,000 barrels per day lower than during the corresponding week of last year.
The EIA reported no fuel ethanol imports for the week ended September 18.
