USDA: Corn use for fuel ethanol expands to 475 million bushels in July
U.S. fuel ethanol producers consumed an estimated 475 million bushels of corn in July, up 2% month-on-month and 4% year-on-year. Total corn used for alcohol and other purposes reached 528 million bushels. Carbon dioxide capture also increased 10% year-on-year.
The volume of corn consumed by U.S. fuel ethanol producers reached an estimated 475 million bushels in July, according to the September edition of the USDA’s Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report.
Total corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was 528 million bushels in July, up 2% when compared to the previous month and up 4% when compared to July of last year.
The 475 million bushels of corn used for fuel alcohol production was also up 2% when compared to June and up 4% when compared to July 2025. Corn consumed for dry milling and wet milling fuel production was 92.6% and 7.4%, respectively.
At dry mills, condensed distillers solubles production fell to 120,797 tons in July, down 7% when compared to June and down 3% when compared to July of last year. Orn oil production expanded to 221,731 tons, up 4% when compared to the previous month and up 6% when compared to July 2025. Distillers dried grains production reached 393,639 tons, up 3% from both the previous month July 2025. Distillers dried grains with solubles production was at 1.85 million tons, up nearly 2% from June, but down nearly 1% when compared to July of last year. Distillers wet grains production was at 1.29 million tons, down slightly when compared to June, but up nearly 9% when compared to July 2025. Modified distillers wet grains production fell to 356,357 tons, down 1% from June and down 9% from July of the previous year.
At wet mills, corn germ meal production fell to 50,571 tons in July, down 5% when compared to the previous month and down 13% when compared to July 2025. Corn gluten feed production fell to 250,692 tons, down 3% from the previous month and down 2% from July of last year. Corn gluten meal production was at 103,391 tons, up 2% when compared to June, but down 3% when compared to July 2025. Wet corn gluten feed production expanded to 210,120 tons, up 8% from the previous month and up 9% when compared to July of last year.
At dry and wet mills, carbon dioxide captured reached 284,535 tons in July, up 9% when compared to June and up 10% when compared to July 2025.
