EIA: Ethanol Production Up 2%, Stocks Up 1%, Exports Down 15%

U.S. fuel ethanol production was up nearly 2% the week ending March 29, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on April 3. Stocks of fuel ethanol were up 1% and exports were down more than 15%.

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.073 million barrels per day the week ending Marcg 29, up 19,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.046 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending March 29 was up 70,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks for fuel ethanol expanded to 26.416 million barrels the week ending March 29, up 324,000 barrels when compared to the 26.092 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending March 29 were up 1.28 million barrels. 

Fuel ethanol exports averaged 71,000 barrels per day the week ending March 29, down 13,000 barrels per day when compared to the 84,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. Data on weekly ethanol exports is not available for the corresponding week of 2023 as the EIA began reporting weekly data on fuel ethanol exports in June 2023. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending March 29.
