NHPC Partners with GGGI to drive clean energy Innovations

NHPC signed an MoU with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to collaborate on clean energy solutions, focusing on agrivoltaics, green hydrogen, and sustainable financing. The partnership aims to advance India’s renewable energy goals, develop scalable green technologies, and integrate renewable energy with agriculture. Both parties aim to drive investments and innovation to support a low-carbon economy, aligning with India’s climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

NHPC, India’s leading hydropower company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) on November 28, 2024, in Faridabad. The MoU was signed by Shri V.R. Shrivastava, Executive Director (REGH), NHPC, and Shri Soumya Prasad Garnaik, Country Head of GGGI, with Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC, and Dr. D.K. Khare, Advisor, GGGI, also present at the signing ceremony.

The partnership aims to drive forward clean energy solutions, with a focus on agrivoltaics, green hydrogen, and sustainable financing models. These initiatives are part of NHPC’s ongoing research and development efforts to tackle climate challenges and support India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

As part of the collaboration, NHPC and GGGI will work on exploring innovative technologies, integrating renewable energy with agricultural practices, and attracting investments in green projects. The MoU also supports India’s climate goals, particularly its commitment to renewable energy under the Paris Agreement.

On the occasion, Shri Uttam Lal emphasized, “This partnership highlights NHPC’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge clean energy solutions and promoting sustainable development. With GGGI’s expertise and NHPC’s legacy in renewable energy, we are poised to make significant contributions to a greener future.”

The MoU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at developing scalable, impactful green energy solutions. Both NHPC and GGGI reaffirmed their commitment to building a sustainable and energy-secure future.
