Stabilising prices: Pakistans Dar reviews wheat import
Pakistan has accelerated wheat distribution to stabilize domestic prices, directing TCP and PASSCO to ensure timely supplies to provinces based on demand. The National Steering Committee reviewed ongoing wheat import operations, reinforcing coordinated federal and provincial efforts to maintain adequate availability and strengthen food security across the country.
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/ FM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to ensure that the provinces receive the requisite quantities according to their requirements.*
He also directed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) to ensure the supply of wheat to the provinces from its stocks as per the agreed quantities.
The DPM/ FM passed these directives while chairing a meeting of the National Steering Committee on wheat import. He reviewed the process of wheat importation, which has been undertaken to stabilise the prices.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for National Food Security and Economic Affairs, the Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan; Secretaries, National Food Security and Commerce; the Additional Chief Secretaries of Punjab and Sindh; and senior officials from AJK, GB, ICT, and relevant federal and provincial departments
