Pakistan Govt committed to supporting oil seed farmers: Tanveer
Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting oilseed farmers in achieving self-sufficiency in edible oil production. Speaking at the Grand National Pak-Olive Gala in Islamabad, he highlighted that the edible oil import bill is Pakistan’s second-largest after petroleum imports. He further noted that the country’s initiative to promote olive oil cultivation aims to reduce reliance on imported oils, strengthening local production and food security.
Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has expressed the government’s firm resolve to facilitate oil seed farmers attaining self-sufficiency in edible oil production.
Addressing the two-day Grand National Pak-Olive Gala in Islamabad, the Minister said the edible oil import bill is the second largest bill after the import bill of petroleum products.
He said the initiative undertaken to promote and develop olive oil in the country will help reduce the reliance on imported commodity.
