Retail prices of well-milled rice continued to fall in early June, but the staple grain remained costlier than a year ago, while several key food items like fish and vegetables registered increases, official data showed.
The national average retail price of well-milled rice fell to P56.66 per kilogram during the June 1 to 5 monitoring period, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said. The figure is down from P57.88 in late May and P58.30 in early May.
Despite the consecutive declines, rice prices remained higher compared with June 2025, when the staple averaged P49.13 in the second half and P49.50 in the first half of the month.
