Rapeseed oil exports from Ukraine grew 30 times in terms of revenue

Ukraine’s rapeseed oil export revenue surged over 30-fold in Q1 2026, driven by a shift toward domestic processing. Total agri exports reached $6.3 billion, up 8.3% in value. Corn exports grew strongly, while wheat declined, with the EU, MENA, and Turkey remaining key markets.

In the first quarter of 2026, Ukraine sharply increased its rapeseed oil exports by revenue – more than 30 times compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy.

As noted by the ministry, due to the stimulation of domestic processing, the export of raw materials is decreasing and the share of processed products is increasing. In particular, in the soybean segment, processed products (cake and oil) showed a smaller decrease than raw beans.

“In the rapeseed segment, the changes are even more significant: rapeseed oil exports increased more than 30 times compared to the same period last year,” the report says.

In total, in January-March, Ukraine exported 15.5 million tons of agricultural products for $6.3 billion, which is 62% of all exports. At the same time, physical volumes remained almost unchanged (+1.2% y/y), while revenue increased by 8.3% (+$482 million).

At the same time, the export structure remains concentrated: the main revenue is provided by corn, sunflower oil and wheat. Corn showed growth in both physical (+18%) and monetary (+17%) terms, while wheat exports decreased by 35% due to a strong harvest in the EU countries.

Key sales markets remain stable: the EU accounts for 49% of exports, MENA countries – 20%, Turkey – 12%. At the same time, Turkey strengthened its position, increasing imports of Ukrainian agricultural products by $242 million.
