Bihar has vast potential of ethanol production: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that within five years, Bihar’s National Highways network will rival that of the United States. At an event marking road project inaugurations worth Rs 3,700 crore, he highlighted the government’s focus on improving connectivity and reducing travel time. Gadkari also assured continued support for Bihar’s road projects, emphasizing ethanol production’s role in boosting farmers’ incomes and reducing India’s petroleum dependence. He noted his personal use of an ethanol-powered car as a testament to its potential.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced on Thursday that in the next five years, the total network of National Highways in Bihar will match that of the United States. Speaking at an event marking the inauguration and foundation-laying of road projects worth Rs 3,700 crore, Gadkari highlighted the Centre’s commitment to enhancing Bihar’s road infrastructure to improve connectivity and ease travel within the state. He emphasized that the extensive road network in Bihar had significantly reduced travel time between key destinations.

Gadkari further stated that by the end of the current term of the Narendra Modi government, a total investment of Rs 5 lakh crore would be directed towards road connectivity in Bihar. The Union Minister stressed that the central government was dedicated to transforming Bihar into a prosperous and developed state, alleviating the struggles of its people. He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, noting that the NDA government in Bihar was performing admirably.

The Minister assured that he was always ready to approve road projects proposed by the Bihar government and its representatives, provided the feasibility was clear. He also confirmed that if the state government took care of land acquisition for projects, the Centre would ensure their swift completion.

Gadkari also underscored Bihar’s significant potential for ethanol production. He pointed out that with the state’s push for ethanol production, farmers are earning good price for their produce. He stressed that the production of ethanol could play a key role in reducing India’s reliance on imported petroleum. Gadkari also shared that he personally drives a car powered entirely by ethanol, showcasing his belief in the fuel’s potential.
