Jordan bought 60,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat in an international tender, likely from Cargill at \$267.50/t C\&F for October delivery. Other bids ranged \$269–280/t. A new tender for 120,000 tonnes is expected Sept. 2. Jordan also closes a separate 120,000-tonne barley tender on Wednesday.

Jordan’s state grain buyer bought about 60,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat in an international tender on Tuesday, which will be sourced from suppliers in other countries, traders said.

They said it was believed to have been bought from trading house Cargill at an estimated price of $267.50 a tonne, including freight (C&F), for delivery in the first half of October.

The reports reflect traders’ estimates, and further price and volume estimates are possible later, Reuters reported.

Traders said they had received information that Jordan would issue a new tender in the coming days for 120,000 tonnes of wheat. Bids are expected to be submitted on Sept. 2, with deliveries expected in various combinations throughout October and November.

Traders said other bidders in Tuesday’s tender included the following trading companies and their estimated bids per tonne on delivery and freight terms:

  • Cofco – $269.68
  • Solaris – $278
  • Buildcom – $273.77
  • Bunge – $280
  • Al Dahra – $272
  • CHS – $269

A separate tender from Jordan for 120,000 tonnes of barley for animal feed also closes on Wednesday.
