Wheat exports from Canada and the USA show the strongest performance in the last decade
US wheat exports reached 11.92 MMT since June 1, the highest since 2013/14, despite limited data during the government shutdown. Canada is also seeing steady wheat shipments. Strong demand is supporting North American exports as reduced Black Sea supplies and poor weather in some regions tighten global wheat availability.
North American wheat supplies remain strong as the new marketing year begins. According to Canadian Cattlemen, citing analyst Doug Falconer, the United States and Canada are showing a strong start to exports.
Despite limited statistics due to the government shutdown in the US, export inspection data continues to be published. For the week ending October 16, US wheat exports totaled 480,600 tonnes, bringing the total since the start of the season (June 1) to 11.92 million tonnes. This is the highest figure for the US since 2013/14.
In Canada, data from the Canadian Grain Commission shows a steady pace of weekly wheat shipments. Exporters from both countries are experiencing strong demand on global markets amid reduced supplies from the Black Sea region and unfavorable weather conditions in some producing countries.
