USDA raises global soybean oil export forecast for 2025/26
The USDA has raised its 2025/26 global soybean oil export forecast by 336,000 tonnes to 13.69 million tonnes, led by higher expected US shipments. China is projected to remain a net exporter for a second year, supported by record exports, lower imports, and expanded domestic processing capacity.
The US Department of Agriculture’s ( USDA ) Foreign Agricultural Service has increased its forecast for global soybean oil exports in the 2025/26 season by 336 thousand tons to 13.69 million tons.
According to the department, the main factor was the adjustment of the forecast for shipments from the United States itself—the figure was increased by 336 thousand tons, to 544 thousand tons.
The agency also expects China to maintain its status as a net exporter of soybean oil for the second year in a row, thanks to record export volumes and a decline in import volumes.
“As recently as 2012/13, China was the world’s largest importer of soybean oil. During this period of high imports, China also became the world’s leading producer, driven by significant investment in processing capacity,” according to a January report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
