Turkey has set a quota for the import of 3 million tons of corn.
Turkey has introduced a tariff-rate quota allowing 3 million tons of corn imports from April 20 to July 31, 2026, at a reduced 5% duty, compared to 130% outside the quota. Imports are capped per declaration. The move precedes August harvest, with domestic production rising to 7.9 million tons this season.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a decree establishing a tariff-rate quota for the import of 3 million tons of corn from April 20 to July 31, 2026.
Corn imported within the quota will be subject to a 5% duty. The duty on corn imported outside the quota is 130%.
The quota will be distributed based on the registration of customs declarations. The maximum import volume that can be included in the quota per declaration is 8,000 tons.
Turkey will begin harvesting its domestic corn crop in August. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Turkey harvested 7.9 million tons of corn this season (6.8 million tons last season).
