Telangana : Crackdown continues, rice miller booked for alleged ₹12.28-crore CMR default in Peddapalli district
Peddapalli district administration has initiated action against Pavana Sutha rice mill for defaulting on CMR worth ₹12.28 crore, including penalty. Of 3,891.295 MT of rice due from 5,798.08 MT allotted paddy, only 1,069.380 MT was delivered, with the remaining quantity allegedly diverted to another mill.
Continuing its crackdown on custom-milled rice (CMR) defaulters, the Peddapalli district administration has initiated action against the Pavana Sutha rice mill in Manthani mandal for allegedly defaulting on CMR worth ₹12.28 crore, including the penalty.
According to an official press release, 5,798.08 metric tonnes of paddy was allotted to the rice mill, owned by Ravikanti Pavan Kumar, for CMR during the kharif and rabi seasons of 2021-22.
Against the stipulated delivery of about 3,891.295 metric tonnes of CMR, the rice mill had so far delivered only 1,069.380 metric tonnes to the Food Corporation of India (FCI)/Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (TGSCSCL).
The rice mill still had to deliver 2,821.915 metric tonnes of CMR, equivalent to about 4,211.813 metric tonnes of paddy. The value of the outstanding paddy was estimated at ₹9,82,51,492. With a 25% penalty, the total default amount was put at ₹12,28,14,365, the release said.
A detailed enquiry reportedly found that the paddy allotted to the Pavana Sutha rice mill during the rabi 2021-22 season was allegedly diverted to Sri Lakshmi MRM at Suraiahpalli village in Manthani mandal.
Official sources said a case had been registered against Pavana Sutha rice mill owner Pavan Kumar and Sri Lakshmi MRM partner Vollala Naveen Kumar. Further investigation is under way.
