EU has increased its exports of wheat and barley this season

European Union grain exports reached 36.9 million tonnes during the first 49 weeks of the 2025/26 season, up 16% year-on-year, led by strong barley and durum wheat shipments. Major buyers included Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

During the forty-nine weeks of the current season, which began on July 1, 2025, EU countries exported 36.9 million tonnes of grain and grain products, 16% more than during the same period in the 2024/2025 season, according to the Zerno On-Line agency, citing the European Commission.

The main export destinations for soft wheat in the current season were: Morocco (3251.6 thousand tons), Saudi Arabia (1830.1 thousand tons), Egypt (1759.3 thousand tons), Nigeria (1732.7 thousand tons) and Algeria (1114.3 thousand tons).

The largest buyers of barley were: China (1657.8 thousand tons), Saudi Arabia (1622.4 thousand tons), Algeria (888.7 thousand tons) and Jordan (743.8 thousand tons).

Durum wheat was imported by Nigeria (137.9 thousand tons), Saudi Arabia (128.0 thousand tons) and other countries.

Corn – Lebanon (409.9 thousand tons), Great Britain (366.7 thousand tons), Israel (193.7 thousand tons) and other countries.

French export data from the beginning of the 2024 calendar year is incomplete. Bulgarian and Irish export data from the beginning of the 2023/2024 season is incomplete. Greek export data from January 2026 is incomplete.
