Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as Sensex slips

At 10:03 AM Monday, sugar stocks showed mixed performance. Top gainers included Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (up 1.93%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (up 1.60%), and KM Sugar Mills Ltd. (up 1.32%). Among losers were Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. (down 1.94%) and Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (down 1.11%).

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Monday at 10:03AM

Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(up 1.93%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 1.60%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 1.32%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 0.88%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(up 0.87%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(up 0.84%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.70%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.62%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.60%) and Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.52%) were among the top gainers.

Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 1.94%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 1.11%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 0.85%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 0.50%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 0.35%) and Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(down 0.12%) were among the top losers.


The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 67.71 points at 24610.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 222.07 points at 81487.05 at around 10:03AM.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 1.55%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.06%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.8%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.68%), NTPC Ltd.(up 0.52%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 0.47%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.45%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.28%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.23%) and Titan Company Ltd.(up 0.22%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 3.69%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 3.52%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 1.96%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 1.76%), Trent Ltd.(down 1.45%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.22%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.1%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.08%), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.95%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.84%) were trading in the red.
