On Monday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that Reliance Industries would send a team to explore investment opportunities in the northeastern state. Speaking at a party event in Khumulwng, Sepahijala district, Saha shared that he recently met Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, in Mumbai to discuss potential investments in Tripura.
“I invited Ambani to be a part of Tripura’s development journey. The state offers great potential for tourism. Besides, the northeastern state has 21 species of bamboo. Ethanol could be produced by using bamboo,” said Saha. He added that Ambani had agreed to send a team to Tripura to assess possible investment avenues in the state.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that Tripura had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Group to develop 19 government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), with an investment of Rs 700 crore expected over the coming years. Additionally, Saha stated that he had written to Infosys, inviting the IT giant to participate in the state’s growth and development.
Saha further mentioned that talks with Bharti Airtel regarding the establishment of a data center in Agartala had been successful, with the company agreeing to move forward with the plan.
According to Saha, Tripura have an “investment-friendly atmosphere” and is the only state in the region that is “free from terrorism.” He emphasized that the state achieved this status after the surrender of NLFT and ATTF militants in September, following a peace agreement.
“The peace in Tripura has been made possible due to the proactive role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in bringing stability to the northeastern region. Since his tenure began in 2014, around 12 peace accords have been signed with various groups to ensure peace in the region,” Saha stated.
