Brazil reaches 22 cereal ethanol plants
In Brazil, Globo Rural reported that Brazil has reached the mark of 22 plants producing cereal ethanol, according to a survey by the National Corn Ethanol Union (Unem).
The number was reached this week with the start of operations at a Neomille unit, in Maracaju, controlled by local firm Cerradinho Bioenergia.
Currently, corn and cereal ethanol already represents more than 20% of national biofuel production. Of the total number of plants, ten are dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of ethanol, according to the report.
“In recent years, Brazil has taken a strong stance in defense of renewable biofuels to replace fossil fuels. With this, the country attracts investors who seek new economic models focused on the conservation of biodiversity and the development of people, guaranteeing the generation of wealth for all”, said in a statement the executive president of Unem, Guilherme Nolasco.
